What are the library hours?

The library hours are: Monday-Thursday – 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Friday – 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday – 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. The library is closed on Sundays and City holidays.

How do I get a library card?

There are no residential or age restrictions for library card holders. Borrowing privileges are granted upon full completion of the appropriate Board-approved application.  All patrons must physically visit the library with a valid photo ID and proof of current address in order to receive and activate their library cards.  Library cards are issued for a one-year period and may be renewed after staff checks that patron information is current.  

What is the loan period for materials?

Books (with the exception of those on the best sellers’ list) and discovery packs can be borrowed for two weeks. Best sellers, magazines, DVDs, and audiobooks can be borrowed for one week. Materials may be renewed if they are not on a reserve list for another patron.

Is there an overdue charge?

A fine of 25 cents per day per items is charged for overdue materials. However, every Friday is “fine free” and overdue materials can be returned and the fines waived. Overdue materials can also be renewed on “Fine Free Fridays” without fines accruing. Materials that are overdue more than eight weeks are not eligible for fines being waived on “Fine Free Fridays.”

Does the library have computers for the public to use?

We have four PCs and five laptops just for public use. There is no charge for using our computers and you do not have to be a library patron in order to use the computers. Copies printed from the computers are 10 cents each.

Does the library offer Wi-Fi?

Yes and it is accessible without using a password.

does the library have e-books?

Yes.  We provide access to Libby.  This service gives you access to thousands of e-books and digital audio books for free.  Download the Libby app today.

Does the library offer interlibrary loan?

Yes. There is a charge of one-way postage for materials received through interlibrary loan.

Does the library have a meeting room the public can use?

Yes. There is no charge for non-profit, cultural, educational, and community-service groups whose purpose in meeting is to provide information, study or exchange ideas. If the room is being used by individuals or groups with commercial concerns, there is a flat fee of $35.00.

Does the library offer programs?

The library offers programs for infants, toddlers, school-age children, teens and adults. You can find out about the weekly/monthly programs and any special events planned at the library by going to the library website. 

Does the Library offer homebound delivery?

The library offers homebound delivery for people that live in the city limits of Broken Bow. 

Does the library proctor exams?

The Library does proctor exams.  Please visit with the Library Director to verify scheduling. 

does the library have a fax machine?

Yes. The Library does have a fax machine.  We do charge $1.00 per page for sending and receiving a fax.  The fax number is 308-872-2927. 

does the library have a copy machine?

The Library does have a copy machine.  We do charge $0.10 per side for a black and white copy and $0.25 per side for a color copy.

Does the library have a scanner?

Yes. The library has a scanner to use free of charge. 

are food and drink allowed in the Library? 

Food and beverages are allowed in the entire building.
