K - 2nd Grade 1st Annual "Kids' Creations" Art Show Thanks to the cooperative
efforts of Christine Wieter, Broken Bow Elementary Art Teacher, and Kim Blackburn, Children's Librarian
at the Broken Bow Public Library, the public will have an opportunity to view some outstanding work of young area artists. The Broken Bow's K-2 Grade 1st Annual "Kids' Creations" Art Show will be on display at the Broken Bow Public Library from Monday, February 6th through Saturday, February 18th. Everyone is encouraged
to stop in the library and see the creative works of local elementary students.


DADDY/DAUGHTER DATE NIGHT The Friends of the Broken Bow Public Library invite dads with daughters, grades K-5, to a Daddy/Daughter Date Night
from 6-8:00 p.m., February 10th at the Broken Bow Public Library. The event
includes a catered dinner, dancing, activities, and prizes. Tickets can be purchased prior to February 6th at the library.
Uncles or granddads may escort the girls if a daddy is unable to attend. Attire is semi-formal. For more information

Dr. SEUSS CAKE DECORATING CONTEST FEBRUARY 28th-MARCH 2nd Bring your decorated cake to the library by noon on Tuesday, February 28th Public will vote for their favorite cake from noon on February 29th until 5:00 p.m.
on Thursday, March 1st (Winners will be announced that day at 5:30!) On Friday, March 2nd, at the top of each hour from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., special
guests will be at the library to read Dr. Seuss stories Stop
by and enjoy cake with us on Friday!

@ YOUR LIBRARY! - CANCER RESOURCE CORNER —
A computer is now available near the front door and the homepage includes tumor site specific cancer information including
prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship; along
with other helpful websites geared toward the daily needs of
cancer patients and caregivers; and a display of written resources
in the Cancer Resource Corner. We are proud to be part of this
pilot project coordinated by the Nebraska Cancer Coalition
and Nebraska’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Program.
- LAPTOPS FOR PUBLIC
USE — We now have 5 laptop computers for the
public to use while they are here in the library! These laptops are part of the Library Broadband Builds Nebraska Communities
project funded by ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) with matching funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
These additional computers will help us upgrade public computing resources; and advance access to employment, learning, and
E-Government services.

Custer County Chief Now Part of Digital Newspaper
Collection The Broken Bow Public Library is pleased to announce the immediate availability of its new digital newspaper collection
through NewsBank. This collection is free to library patrons and is updated daily. NewsBank provides
Web-based access to current and archived issues of full-text national newspapers and those from our area, including the G.I.
Independent, Kearney Hub, Lincoln Journal Star, North Platte Telegraph, Omaha World-Herald,
Lexington Clipper, Columbus Telegraph and the Custer County Chief! NewsBank enables library patrons to easily search and browse current and archived news articles,
editorials, reviews, birth and marriage announcements, obituaries and a variety of special sections. Patrons can use this
resource for general reference or to research local and national issues, events, people, government, education, arts, business,
sports, real estate and much more. In addition to using workstations at the library, patrons can access the collection from
home by going to our website and clicking on the link to NewsBank. NewsBank offers Web-based access to more than 2,000 titles from the U.S. and other countries around
